About the Model
The original run of the Jaguar E-Type, known as the Series 1, is among the most desirable E-Types, noted for its evolution throughout its production. Early models (1961-1964) featured a 3.8L engine and partial synchromesh transmission. Later models were equipped with a 4.2L engine and a full synchromesh transmission, offering improved drivability while maintaining the Series 1’s iconic style.
As the Series 1 production neared its end, elements from the forthcoming Series 2 were gradually introduced, leading to the unofficial designation of "Series 1.5." These cars incorporated changes to meet U.S. market requirements, including subtle updates to the running gear and chassis and a de-tuned engine. The most noticeable visual difference between Series 1 and "Series 1.5" is the removal of the headlamp covers.
